Beaverton Land Use Element Update

APG updated the goals, policies, background, and format of the Land Use Element of the City of Beaverton's Comprehensive Plan.  The project included a new approach to designating and guiding policy for land along major road corridors throughout the City, and a focus on neighborhood policies including infill and neighborhood commercial nodes.  Updates to goals and policies also addressed changes in development patterns and reflected the City's visioning and planning work done since the last update in 2002.

The project was informed by a diverse and thoughtful Community Advisory Committee; a Technical Advisory Committee with representatives of adjacent jurisdictions, service providers, and public agencies; an online survey in which over 500 people participated; engagement with neighborhood groups; as well as check-ins with Planning Commission and City Council.  Prior to hearings, APG led creation of an online interactive map and website summarizing the proposed changes, which allowed people to submit comments, including providing official testimony, online.  The Land Use Element was successfully adopted in October, 2017.
